Lion Voices: Alexis Davis

Written By: Kassidy Barnt

Happy Friday, Lions! In honor of sorority recruitment this week, our feature is the woman in charge of it all, Alexis Davis. Alexis is a senior psychology major and social work minor from Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She is Vice President of Panhellenic Recruitment, Membership Assistant for Campus Activities Board (CAB), and a 2021 Cub Camp counselor.
Alexis decided to join a sorority the second semester of her freshman year through continuous open bidding (COB). She wanted to get involved on campus but didn’t want to go through formal recruitment, postponing her bid so she could learn to juggle college life first. “Little did I know though how big of an impact going Greek would have on me and made the person I am today,” Alexis said. “I remember being a shy and timid girl who barely left her dorm room and only hung out with a couple people that I knew from high school. You can ask anyone who knew me then versus now, I’ve grown and stepped outside of my comfort zone in more ways than I though possible because I gained all of these sisters and an amazing advisor who saw and continues to see Sonics potential in me even when I’m not able to see it.”
Her favorite thing about being in a sorority is making memories with her closest friends. “Being in a sorority has given me so many leadership opportunities straight from the start that I would’ve honestly never seen myself hold. For my own chapter, I’ve been in charge of sisterhood, alumnae relations, banner chairwoman, and I’ve held an executive council position for two terms. I step in where I’m needed and finally took the step to be on Panhellenic Council this year. All of these opportunities have given me the chance to win New Member of the year in 2019 and Greek Woman of the year in 2020.”
When asked who inspires her, Alexis named our Friday Feature from last week, Reagan Heppner. “Not only was she my director as a Cub Camp counselor and as a member of CAB, but she’s been a very good friend. Reagan is one of the most selfless, genuine people I have ever met. She is so intentional and servant-hearted in everything that she does.
