Open House Welcomes New Adult Degree Completion Program Students
The Adult Degree Completion Program (ADCP) open house event on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, was another example of successful community outreach to connect with adult learners and non-traditional students looking to make a positive change.
“These are students ready to return,” explained Dr. Tina Root, ADCP director.
Tuesday’s open house allowed prospective students to meet face-to-face with Root and to get a glimpse of what a possible degree course plan would look like after meeting with ADCP advising coordinator Heather Scheurer.
Root had this message to those who attended the open house and those interested in the program: “We invest in the students who invest in the program. Whether through non-traditional credit or a non-traditional process, we are there every step of the way with a student from the moment they start until the moment they graduate with their bachelor’s degree.”
Since the program’s inception in the fall of 2019, the ADCP has grown on the UAFS campus and even earned the Malcolm Knowles Award, recognized for outstanding adult education program leadership.
Anyone unable to attend the open house is encouraged to contact Dr. Root and the ADCP anytime. Eligible students need to meet to have more than 30 hours of previous college credit and at least five years of working experience. They must be at least 25 years old. However, students can be evaluated case-by-case if all three requirements still need to be met.
