Deborah Lashley, director of medical imaging at Sparks Health Systems, will be the guest speaker for the July 18 radiography pinning ceremony at the University of Ï㽶ÊÓƵAPP - Fort Smith.
Lashley has been employed at Sparks for 32 years since graduating from the Sparks School of Radiologic Technology in 1980. She was honored by Sparks Health Systems as the Director of the Year for 2010. Currently, Lashley serves on the advisory boards of the Ï㽶ÊÓƵAPP Imaging Sciences Program, the River Town Federal Credit Union and the Sparks Good Neighbor Board. She is also an Associate Team Champion for Sparks Health Systems and serves on the Sparks Step Up Speak Out committee.
Angie Elmore of Booneville, clinical coordinator of the radiography program at UAFS, said the 6 p.m. ceremony will be held in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center. The ceremony is for the 19 students who will be candidates for graduation after completing the Associate of Applied Science in Radiography program at the end of the second summer term.
Other program participants include students Rachel Ford of Bunch, Okla., invocation, and Whitney Wilbourn of Van Buren, welcome and closing remarks. A musical presentation will be given byMaKayla Hood of Ozark.
Class officers are Whitney Wilbourn of Van Buren, president; Jeanette Ledezma of Fort Smith, vice president; Amanda Bryant of Alma, secretary; and Christina Nguyen of Sallisaw, treasurer.
The pinning ceremony is open to the public. Pinning and awards ceremonies at UAFS are held just prior to graduation at the end of completion of academic programs of study in various health career fields.
UAFS offers the Associate of Applied Science degree in radiography and two bachelor’s degrees in imaging sciences, one in diagnostic medical sonography and one online program in management.
