A reception for “Eye/Mind/Hand/Heart: An Exhibition of Faculty Work,” an exhibit featuring artwork by 㽶ƵAPP faculty, will be held from 5-6 p.m. Nov. 13 at UAFS at Second Street, 101 N. 2nd St., as part of a two-month exhibition.

The exhibit, which opened Oct. 11 at the Arvest Gallery at the Second Street venue, will run until late December and features art by 12 faculty members from the UAFS art and graphic design department.

The pieces span a variety of artistic mediums, from three-dimensional works to charcoal drawings.

Don Lee of Fort Smith, head of the art department, said the faculty members’ work “represents the possibilities and specialties available to art students.”

“The range of work -- including subject matter, form, content and materials -- presented in this exhibition reflects the depth and mastery of the art and design faculty members,” he said. “Their work shows that our faculty members are both art professors and professional artists.”

Henry Rinne of Fort Smith, dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at UAFS, said the university was “very fortunate to have such talented and diverse faculty members.”

“We have a number of full-time faculty members who work in different media, have exhibited around the country, and have works in various collections,” he said. “Our faculty members have a great deal of professional experience. The graphic designers, for instance, still do work of a professional nature, especially for non-profit organizations.”

The faculty members showcasing work in the exhibit are:

Charleston: Lin Chen.

Fayetteville: Nichole Howard.

Fort Smith: Bryan Alexis, Travis Brown, Ernest Cialone, Greer Farris, Katie Harper, Don Lee, Charles Steiner.

Pettigrew: Jocelyn Knight.

Van Buren: Colin McLain, Mary Spears.

With the exception of the Nov. 13 event, the exhibit is only available for viewing when the facility is open for events scheduled there. For more information about UAFS at Second Street events, contact the UAFS Campus and Community Events Office at 479-788-7300.
