A duo renowned for their unique combination of classical music and classic rock will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 as part of the University of Ď㽶ĘÓƵAPP Fort Smith’s Season at The Blue Lion.
DePue De Hoyos will perform at The Blue Lion at UAFS Downtown, located at 101 N. 2nd Street. Tickets for the show are $25.
The show features two world-class musicians: Alex DePue, who performed at Carnegie Hall at age 14 and toured with legendary guitarist Steve Vai, and Miguel DeHoyos, who has performed for Nobel Laureates, government officials and audiences around the world.
The duo recently released an album, “Twisted Strings,” that fuses Latin and rock rhythms with classic musical styles.
Based out of California, DePue De Hoyos have received rave reviews from critics across America. One critic said the two possess a musical prowess equal to “Santana, Hendrix, [and] Stevie Ray Vaughan,” while the San Diego Union-Tribune called the duo’s show “a heady mix of virtuosity and sophistication that is even more impressive live.”
Stacey Jones, associate vice chancellor for campus and community events, said the show is “one of the best shows we’ve brought to the Blue Lion.”
“In terms of musical talent and unique sound, they can’t be beat. They’re two of the most talented musicians I’ve ever seen,” Jones said. “This is an electric duo that is going to blow away our audience. Fort Smith residents won’t want to miss it.”
The Season at The Blue Lion is a lineup of musical performances held at the university’s downtown venue featuring local and nationally-recognized musicians.
