This program is designed for future social studies teachers who will make a meaningful impact on history, civics, economics, and psychology students in junior high and high school classrooms. Students learn to integrate and apply the knowledge they learn in actual public school 7-12 classrooms. The social studies methodology course and internship (student teaching) are led by experienced education professors with public school teaching experience.
Students must be admitted to the teacher education program through the School of Education which has a separate admission application.

Students must meet admission requirements current at the time of their final application for admission to the teacher education program. Minor
This 18-hour program provides you with analytical thinking skills and research and writing ability that all employers desire from their employees. By providing you with core knowledge of the past, a minor in history helps prepare you for the responsibilities of citizenship.
Certificate of Proficiency
This 9-credit hour program provides curriculum designed for those in helping professions such as human services, health care organizations, educators, and others. Courses include Intermediate Spanish I, II, and Spanish for the Professions. Beginning Spanish I and II, or required placement scores are prerequisites for Intermediate Spanish I.
Upon completion of the B.A. in history with social studies teacher licensure, graduates will be able to:
