Online Course Teaching Tools

Blackboard Learn 9.1 is used to deliver and manage online courses at UAFS. However, other software can also be used to enhance online teaching and learning. Some work in conjunction with Blackboard while the others can be used independently. The following is detailed information about the software used on this campus.

Used to create multimedia components such as demos, voice-over lessons, or video clips for online courses. Allows instructors to edit video captures and add titles, call-outs, quizzes, or surveys in the video. The video can be imported into Panopto and embedded or linked in Blackboard.

Respondus LockDown Browser

Secures online tests so students cannot print, copy, or access other applications, the desktop, or another website during a test.

Test generator that allows instructors to create and manage exams that can be published directly to Blackboard. Provides instructors with a way to import test questions written in either text or Word format into Blackboard.

Campus-wide license

SafeAssign

Plagiarism detection software that compares student work with academic databases and periodicals, global and institutional databases, and the internet. Provides instructors with a report.

Class Collaborate

Online classroom videoconferencing software that is integrated with Blackboard Learn. Faculty and students can see and talk with each other, use a shared whiteboard, and present documents.

Microsoft Teams

Online collaboration and videoconferencing software. Faculty and students can do video and audio calls, share documents, chat, and post messages with classmates and other team members.

Included with Office 365

Panopto

Faculty and students can post videos online. Faculty can link or embed videos directly in their Blackboard courses. Automatic closed captioning/transcription provided.

SmarterProctoring

Online proctoring service that allows students to test online from the comfort of their home while a proctor monitors the test session. Also includes automated proctoring options
