Dental Hygiene Application
The UAFS Dental Hygiene Program offers a comprehensive education combining foundational knowledge and hands-on clinical practice. Admission is competitive, with only 16 spots available each fall, but if you’re passionate about this field, we encourage you to take the next step and apply!
Important Dates
The deadline to apply for Fall entry into the Dental Hygiene Program is May 20. Applications must be submitted online by this date.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Prerequisite Coursework: Complete approximately 61 hours of required courses before applying.
- Dental Observation Hours: Document at least 25 hours of dental observation.
- ATI-TEAS Exam: Take and submit your score for the ATI-TEAS exam, a standardized test for health sciences.
Top candidates will be invited for an in-person interview as part of the final selection process.
How to Apply
- Review Admission Requirements: Confirm that you meet all eligibility criteria.
- Prepare Your Application: Compile required documentation, including proof of coursework, observation hours, and ATI-TEAS exam results.
- Submit Online: Complete your application through our online portal by May 20.
Application Checklist
The application packet and online site include a detailed listing of admission requirements. Please use this checklist to help ensure you have completed and submitted all necessary materials.
- Apply to be a student at UAFS.
- Submit current transcripts from all colleges attended (excluding UAFS).
- Sign the Dental Hygiene Degree Plan for the current year.
- Complete your OBS hours and check with the admissions coordinator, Nicki Gilbert, to ensure they are in your file.
- Take the ATI-TEAS test.
- Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
- Make sure you haven't taken classes with the same subject and course number more than twice.

Program Highlights and Expectations
Upon acceptance into the Dental Hygiene Program, you will:
- Complete 59 credit hours of in-program clinical and lecture coursework (not including the course).
- Gain real-world experience in oral health care practices.
- Prepare for your career with the successful completion of the following:
